Happy Hideaway #1
A beautiful place by the sea.
Hi Friends! 🤗 Each week I am going to be sharing one of my Happy Hideaways a.k.a one of the secret spots I’ve discovered on my travels that make me smile. These microblogs will consist of some tidbits about the place along with actual coordinates, tips and current social distancing guidelines.
This week I was talking to an old friend of mine who was planning a trip to New England. They were asking me for recommendations and it made me remember one of the cutest villages I had the chance to visit- Ogunquit. Pronounced Uh-gun-quit, this place lives up to its name which literally means “beautiful place by the sea”.
This town was started as a little fishing village but has turned into a quaint and beautiful respite for travelers and artists alike. Many artists come here for inspiration- including none other than Steven King himself who based one of his books “The Stand” off of this small town.
Whenever I get the chance to visit, I always make sure to take a walk along Marginal Way; an insanely beautiful coastline cliff walk. It is about 1 1/4 miles and is the perfect place for a peaceful walk. There are 39 benches along the way if you want to take a rest or just take in the view!
I dropped a pin where I would begin the walk. You can walk all the way down to Perkins Cove where you can end your trip with the catch of the day, some shopping, or even a boat ride!

Definitely bring comfortable walking shoes, some water, and your cameras as this is a view you won’t want to forget!
Enjoy and remember to think happy thoughts. 😃
